This heroic effort ensured his team’s place in the finals and earned him the nickname "Hero de Janeiro." Now, as he heads to Paris 2024, Toba will be making his fourth Olympic appearance, aiming to add more chapters to his remarkable journey in gymnastics.
Anna Markfort, Sailor
Anna Markfort narrowly missed qualifying for Tokyo 2021, but this only fueled her determination. Alongside her sailing partner Simon Diesch, she secured the sole German spot in the newly introduced "Mixed Two Person Dinghy" class for the upcoming Summer Games. The 31-year-old sports soldier and European Championship silver medalist from Berlin will compete as a crew member in Marseille, ready to showcase her skills and perseverance on the world stage.
Sideris Tasiadis, Slalom Canoeist
Sideris Tasiadis has already stood on the Olympic podium twice: winning a silver medal in 2012 and a bronze in 2020. This year, the 34-year-old has trained rigorously with his sights set on bringing home a gold medal in canoe slalom. Tasiadis is a member of the internationally renowned Kanu Schwaben Augsburg and is also pursuing a career as a police officer. His dedication to both his sport and his career exemplifies his commitment and hard work.

Lea Sophie Friedrich, a track cyclist who originally dedicated herself to football, later discovered her passion for cycling through a friend. The eight-time world champion achieved remarkable success from a young age, winning bronze as the youngest participant at the Junior Track World Championships at just 17. Now 24, Friedrich continues to excel in her sport and is considered a strong medal contender for the upcoming Summer Games in Paris. The police officer from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern combines her athletic pursuits with her professional career, showcasing her dedication and versatility.
Jacob Schopf, Canoe Sprinter 🥇🥇
At the age of 16, Jacob Schopf paddled his way to his first world championship title. Many more victories followed, with highlights including a silver medal at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. Schopf aims to build on his latest triumph, a first-place finish at the Canoe World Championships in Duisburg, as he heads to Paris. The 25-year-old sports soldier and education student will compete in both the two-man and four-man kayak events.
